The album featured guest appearances from Sadat X (of Brand Nubian), J-Live, Organized Konfusion (Pharoah Monch and Prince Po), Mike Zoot & F.T., Asheru, and others. In the fall of 2002, El finally dropped his debut solo album, Relax, Relate, Release, through Seven Heads Entertainment. During this time, he dropped the singles "Frontline" and "Got That" to let fans know he was still working. After the split, El Da Sensei went on his own traveling around the world and appeared on numerous compilations from Japan to Norway to Germany. Although not nearly successful as the first album, many hip-hop fans claim the album is an "underground classic," spawning the underground hits "The Art of Facts" and "The Ultimate." Shortly after the release of the second album, El and Tame decided on an amicable break up. They had developed a fan base of hardcore hip-hoppers, being graffiti artists and hip-hop purists themselves they sparked a new sub-culture in hip-hop called "backpackers." In 1996, the group followed up their debut with their sophomore album, That's Them. After that initial hit, the Artifacts splashed the world with joints like "Come on With the Come On" and "Dynamite Soul," and went onto tour the U.S. They released their debut album, Between a Rock & a Hard Place, in 1994 with "Wrong Side of the Tracks" as the lead single and video. The Artifacts first rose to fame with the hit "Wrong Side of the Tracks." After El Da Sensei and his partner Tame-One sent a rough demo to Bobbito the Barber at WKCR in New York, the group was signed to Big Beat/Atlantic Records. Cop dat.El Da Sensei stepped onto the hip-hop scene as one half of the Newark, NJ, duo, the Artifacts. Definitley a must-have cd for true lyrical heads. Also the joint “Whatyawando” with J-Live and Asheru is another banger. Other standout tracks include “Frontline” featuring Pharaohe Monch, Prince Po, FT, and Mike Zoot. “So Easily” is a smoothed-out jazzy track with a heavy bass line which uses a sample from Rakim’s early single “My Melody.” El flows easily over this joint as well. He also touches base on some of the pioneers of the game such as KRS ONE and Rakim. On “So Think Again” El spits about using his tools and skills to build his life in this genre of music. Excerpts in between songs highlight the history of the artifacts and the elements of the culture itself. On tracks such as “Relax” and “Eternally” El talks about the state of Hip Hop today and what real Hip Hop means to him. On The album El displays the skills to go with his pure form of Hip Hop from the early days. Slated for an October 15 drop date on the Brooklyn-based label Seven Heads Recordings, El continues on a righteous path of preserving the craft of pure, untainted Hip Hop. After the poor response to that album, the Artifacts parted ways and today El Da Sensei is back with a new album entitled Relax, Relate, Release. That wave was all about money and not about skills. In 1996 The Artifacts released The Art Of Facts but due to the inception of flossing tactics, champagne wishes and big-bodied whip dreams, the album was overshadowed by the next wave of Hip Hop. With these releases they conquered the underground world with true Hip Hop artistry. In 1994 they released their debut single “Wrong Side of The Tracks.” They soon followed that with the release of the debut album Between A Rock and a Hard Place. One half of that group was El Da Sensei and the other was Tame One. Play online or download to listen offline free - in HD audio, only on JioSaavn.
